Osteosarcoma panhumeral; auto injerto peroné vascularizado con conservación de codo
Main Article Content
Abstract
Osteosarcoma is the most common primary solid bone tumor with the production of malignant immature bone as a common feature. It usually appears in the second decade of life, with a 2:1 male/female ratio. The humerus ranks third in osteosarcoma predilection sites, the common location being metaphyseal, metaphyseal, and rarely diaphyseal. Treatment follows a regimen of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, wide surgical resection, and adjuvant chemotherapy. Salvage can be complicated according to tumor involvement with compromised anatomical structures. We present a case of
panhumeral osteosarcoma whose salvage was carried out with extensive excision with vascularized fibula autograft, obtaining control of the defect and functional reconstruction with good results.
