Frecuencia de la deformidad extra-articular en artroplastia total de rodilla
Main Article Content
Abstract
Extra-articular knee deformities are a pathology that increases the incidence of tricompartmental gonarthrosis, precipitating the need for joint replacement. Because of its unusual presentation, implementing an intra-articular bone resection comprises a challenge for most surgeons. Material and methods: From September 1 to October 27, 2022, 28 primary knee prostheses were placed, two of which were in patients with extra articular deformities.
Variables were used: anatomical axis, presence of extra-articular deformities, functional scale KSS (Knee Society Score) and the visual analog scale of pain.
Results: cases of extra-articular deformity of the knee correspond to 7.1% of the total number of patients treated. Using the KSS scale, functional and pain improvement was evidenced. We concluded that prosthetic surgery for extra-articular deformities is a surgical challenge that can be solved with primary knee prostheses.
