Efecto de la administración intravenosa única de ácido tranexámico en los pacientes sometidos a reconstrucción de ligamento cruzado anterior

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the administration of tranexamic acid in a single dose in patients undergoing arthroscopic reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament.
Materials and methods: Prospective study, data were obtained from 42 patients 32 men and 10 women, 2 groups were made: group 1 received an intravenous infusion of 15 mg / kg TXA before removing the ischemia cuff and the control group did not received TXA. The mobility ranges, the EVA pain scale, the need to perform postoperative arthrocentesis and finally the Lysholm scale at 6 months postoperative were evaluated. Results: Pain assessment using the EVA scale showed an improvement, after 3 months of surgery it was observed that patients who received TXA 100% presented a score of 0/10; In contrast to the group that did not receive TXA, 68% of them had a score of 1/10; the scale of Lysholm monster that the group that received TXA, 70% had a score of 91, in the group that did not receive TXA, 64% of them had a score of 85. The range of flexion improved in patients who received TXA at 1 month but was equal to 3 months, arthrocentesis was performed in the group that did not receive TXA in 11 patients. Conclusions: The administration of TXA reduced hemarthrosis, improved the range of mobility and pain after surgery. The use of TXA improved the results after the reconstruction of ACL.
