Abstract
The severe valgus deformity represents a surgical challenge for the orthopedic surgeon, with the total knee replacement as the only treatment option in the terminal stage, due to a permanent disability. The actual clinical case is a 53-year-old patient with a surgical history of a right tibial plateau fracture Schatzker VI, one and a half years ago and surgically resolved one and a half year ago. She had pain and valgum deformity, symptomatology had limited her daily activity. In her physical examination of the right knee the range of motion was -10 ° extension and 110 ° flexion, a fixed valgus deformity of 28 °, (Ranawat Grade III), and a medial opening greater than 10 mm. A total constricted knee prosthesis was placed, obtaining good clinical and radiographic results. Three months after surgery, the patient presented a stable and painless knee, 90 ° flexion and 0 ° extension and a complete correction of her valgus deformity.
