Hemi-hamate Arthroplasty of the Proximal Interphalangeal Joint Secondary to Fracture-Dislocation of the Middle Phalanx: Case Report

Abstract
Objective: To describe the surgical management of a multifragmentary fracture of the base of the middle phalanx using hemi-hamate arthroplasty and WALANT anesthesia. Methods: Case of a patient with a multifragmentary fracture of the middle phalanx base of the fourth finger treated with hemi-hamate arthroplasty under WALANT. Results: The hemi-hamate graft provided stability and adequate congruency. WALANT allowed immediate functional assessment. Conclusion: The combination is an effective option for complex fractures, optimizing joint function and offering clinical and economic benefits.
