Abstract
Sacroiliacal Joint Tuberculosis is a rare entity, above 5 - 8 % of patients with skeletal
tuberculosis can present this articular affection. The clinical manifestations are not
specific or sensitive. Plain x- rays can may be inconclusive. The diagnosis can be
challenging and delayed.
We present a case of a 23 years old man with insidious lower back pain and secretion
through a fistula in the gluteal region of several months of evolution. With these findings,
it was initially managed as a bacterial infection. The definitive diagnosis was confirmed
with postoperative microbiology and histopathology studies. We review the clinical
presentation and treatment of this unusual pathology.
